Ponderosa Trilogy

From the combination of three solo works developed between 2010 and 2014 for the performance marathon of the Ponderosa TanzLand Festival, the Ponderosa Trilogy emerged. In it, the artist weaves together the main threads and strands of his interests in contemporary dance and performance: crochet work, dance improvisation, queer theory, AIDS activism, and writing about dance. The result is a tapestry of stories and situations — a collage in which various motifs are pieced together like a puzzle.

A whole takes shape, one characterized by the audience’s participation through direct conversations and assistance in different performative actions. The focus is a personal one — from time to time a book appears, a text, a dance, and costumes. The musical selection refers to various gay musicians of the past. Through “new shamanic actions,” the past is linked to the future.
